Turkey Sausage, Mushroom Oatmeal

This oatmeal recipe adds mushrooms, parsley, and turkey sausage to the table for something unique.   


Ingredients

6 oz turkey sausage
4 oz button mushrooms, diced
2 tbsp. canola oil
5 c. water
2 c. oatmeal
3/4 tsp. salt
1/3 tsp. black pepper
2 tbsp. fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a pot. Sauté mushrooms and turkey sausage until golden brown.
  2. Add in water and oatmeal and bring to a light simmer. Cook for about 5 minutes over medium heat, or until oatmeal is cooked through. 
  3. Once oatmeal is cooked, add salt, pepper, and parsley.
