Reserve a Meal with Western Reserve Academy
In Ohio, one FLIK Independent School Dining kitchen proved they're more than a campus dining hall. In the of the pandemic, FLIK and Western Reserve Academy partnered to launch a new initiative, "Reserve Your Meal," as a way to both keep the culinary staff employed and deliver nutritious, delicious meals to local residents in need.
Different than typical take-out, the program offered elevated, homestyle dinners for four. These delicious menus created by Chef Eddie Mundy and the culinary team at WRA included nutritious entrees & sides, for example:
- Sesame Cucumber Salad, Shrimp & Broccoli Stir Fry, Fried Rice, and Pork Potstickers
- Grilled Steak with Mushroom Bordelaise, Baked Potatoes with Butter & Miso Scallion Sour Cream, Roasted Garlic, Lemon & Caper Asparagus, Portuguese Loaf & Dessert
- Baked Mac & Cheese with Crispy Herb Panko Topping, Grilled Lemon Garlic Chicken Tenders, Triple Pea & Asparagus Salad with Feta Mint Dressing
The free meals were offered to CLE Family Meal in Cleveland and Haven of Rest in Akron.
Over 12,000 meals were provided to the local community between March-May 2020.
