Cocktail of the Month: Mexican Hot Chocolate Martini

Hot chocolate is the perfect winter beverage to warm you from the inside out. Hot chocolate martinis take that warmth to a whole new level.

Mexican Hot Chocolate Espresso Martini

Mexican hot chocolate is a richer, spicier, creamy hot chocolate traditionally prepared with bittersweet chocolate, cinnamon, and sometimes a touch of chili powder. Compared to traditional American hot chocolate, it's not overly sweet and features a unique flavor profile. Our cocktail builds on these spices thanks to a housemade cocoa infused vodka, a kick of cinnamon whiskey, and a shot of espresso for an extra bite.

Mexican Hot Chocolate Martini

Talk about the holiday spirit. This cozy cocktail takes all the elements of hot chocolate and gives them a festive kick.


Ingredients

HOUSEMADE COCOA INFUSED VODKA:
1 cup cocoa nibs
1 bottle of vanilla vodka
MARTINI:
1 oz espresso
1 oz. housemade cocoa-infused vodka
1/2 oz coffee liquor, like Kahlua
1/2 oz. cinnamon whiskey, like Fireball
1/4 oz. simply syrup
Optional chocolate bitters for garnish

Instructions

To Make the Vodka:

  1. Pour the bottle of vodka and the cocoa nibs into a large, sealable container.
  2. Seal for 3 days to infuse.
  3. Strain the vodka through a fine-mesh cloth.

To Prepare the Cocktail:

  1. Add the ingredients to a tall shaker with 1 cup of ice cubes. Shake for 30 seconds.
  2. Double strain into a martini or coupe glass.

Optional: Drop a few dots of the chocolate bitters on top of the foam drag a toothpick through to create hearts.
