March is National Nutrition Month and this is a perfect time to take a deep dive into how our team works together to ensure that we’re staying ahead of the curve on nutrition trends, while also keeping our guests healthy.

We’re getting FIT!
At FLIK, we’re here to empower you to make healthier meal choices that that will energize and revitalize you. Through our FIT menu items – specific items that have been approved by our dietitians to fall under a specific calorie count, saturated fat count, sodium count and sugar count – we can help show you how to have well-balanced meals that promote positive, healthy decisions.
In the world of catering, there’s nothing worse than being stationary for hours during a conference and then fed a heavy lunch. That’s why at FLIK, we’re embracing all things FIT. We’ve implemented entirely FIT catering menus that not only nourish you, but also help keep you focused during long meetings. Now you can enjoy that FIT brownie guilt-free!
We like to move it, move it!
M.O.V.E Meetings are another creative way to have wellness-first meetings. This creative meeting style is meant to get people up and moving around during conferences. With specially curated light exercise, FIT-menu items, and more – these meetings are meant to nourish and vitalize you!
It’s all about using roots-to-stems.
At a number of our locations, we’re embracing more sustainable culinary techniques in exciting and innovative new ways to keep our guests nutritionally satisfied, educated on how their food is sourced while also reducing our overall foodprint. As an example, a number of our cafes are implementing creative roots-to-stems recipes, like Carrot Top Pesto, to ensure we’re reducing food waste and not discarding nutrient-rich ingredients.

Say goodbye to unnecessary sugar.
J.Lo isn’t the only one saying goodbye to sugar this year – so are many of our locations! Well, not all sugar, but some.
As a way to keep healthier beverage options flowing in the café, some cafés are now fully soda-free. Instead, guests are able to choose from a variety of healthier options like infused-waters, seasonal agua frescas, homebrewed iced teas and more. Others are even making some of these option complimentary for guests.

Through programs like the Teaching Kitchen Collaborative, we’re taking nutrition and culinary education to new heights.
The Teaching Kitchen Collaborative looks at culinary and wellness data through one lens: to end obesity and focus on nutrition education. By implementing Teaching Kitchens in our cafés, we’ve helped guests learn more about how to shop in the grocery store, read nutrition labels, fill their plates with healthier choices, and even be more mindful while cooking and eating.

Say hello to ‘Free Fruit Friday’!
Some cafés have taken a very specific wellness-first approach to their dining services and implemented “Free Fruit Fridays” with every purchase.
It’s one simple way to encourage your community to choose a healthy side with their meal.
