4 Summer Sips to Get You Through a Heatwave
Working from home has its perks, but we'd be lying if we said we didn't miss local coffee shops and hand crafted cocktails after work. If you're getting tired of sipping water at home, we've put together a few creative summer sips for you to change it up:
Morning Sips
Working from home has made the morning commute a little too convenient for some of us. If you're rolling out of bed, directly into your "office" you might be skipping an opportunity to properly fuel over a balanced breakfast.
If making scrambled eggs before your first conference call doesn't jive with your routine, try making a smoothie to fuel your morning. This Apple, Cucumber, Spinach Smoothie is loaded with antioxidants, folate, iron, and fiber -- a perfect way to start your day. Or check out this Power Up Smoothie for an extra pack of protein in the morning.
Lunch Sips
Skip a soda at lunch and make a refreshing pitcher of Iced Lemon Cucumber Matcha tea.
What the FLIK is...Matcha? Matcha is a type of green tea and literally translates to "powdered tea." What makes it different from traditional green tea is that matcha is produced by taking the young green tea leaves and grinding them into an ultra-fine, bright green powder.
And frankly -- it's delicious.
Mid-Day Break Sips
Nothing says "afternoon pick-me-up" like a fresh cup of coffee.
But when you're in the middle of a heat wave, be sure to keep your caffeine intake in check. Luckily for avid coffee drinkers, it turns out that three to five, 8 fl oz cups per day was shown to be a safe amount of caffeine to consume. Just have a glass of water, or two, in between cups to stay hydrated.
Are you missing your daily barista visits at the office? Channel your inner coffee snob and try to make the trendy Dalgona Coffee at home.
After Hours Sips
Happy Hour isn't very far when you're working from home.
Because you don't have to drive home after happy hour, it's a little easier to over-indulge these days. And don't forget -- liquid calories count.
If you're looking for something refreshing and calorie-friendly, opt for tequila and club soda with a squeeze of fresh lime. You still get that refreshing buzz without the added sugar and calories from mixers. If you're like us and started a quarantine garden, add in a few sprigs of fresh mint too!
Now that’s what we call a happy hour.
